The FinchesA Poem by Sabbath_NikoleThis poem was one in a group of my poems that won the Lucy Hall Gordon Prize at my University. =]Flit from Space to space Incapable of stilling For even the slightest moment Small cyclones scattering debris Atop shrubs They’ll nest in impossible places But watch . . . Vaulting around arches and then Spiraling past gardens Alighting on dusty dirt roads for Their personal dust baths Nestled in dips and divots in Along The same spots Your old pickup bounces And jerks Pesky holes Lovely to those small winged bits of life Refreshed, feeling rather restless Careening around the corners Of houses Startling those within Up with the dawn, waking neighbors With their chirps Inconsiderate little fellows You know? © 2011 Sabbath_NikoleReviews
