Everfall

Everfall

A Poem by Sabbath_Nikole

I'm tattooed and scarred

My bruised and battered heart

Falling into the hungry abyss

Doing nothing to feed its envious greed

My skin marred by ink and blade

My form unpleasing to all

But mine eyes

We fell, just to stand again

My mutilated body, born many hardships

And still goes on

When will this damaged shell

Refuse to rise again

We all fall,

Some more beautifully than others

Some saved at the last possible precarious instant

But of us, we're ever trembling

Down the trecherous slope of life

Waiting, spilling into death's hungry maw

Oh they claimed me

Everfall

I'm proud of my tattoos and my scars. Men who have no wounds and no tattoos worry me. How do you live a life always in the safe lane? Men and woman who have tattoos and scars show signs of a good life. I like this poem. Ending is the road for the all of us. Death will come sooner or later. A outstanding poem.

I dont have any tattoos (I dont think it's worth getting a tattoo just for the sake of having one - there needs be a reason behind it), but I have many scars. Scars are tattoos with better stories if you ask me. I'd rather remember that brain tumor operation that saved my life then that night in Vegas, if you get my drift :)

The random form of the poem suits the subject matter well. I love the triumph of rising every time we fall,
"When will this damaged shell
Refuse to rise again"

Nicely done.

Everyone has a story behind every scar. There is always that sweet or not so sweet memory it brings back. This poem captures that to a T. Good job.

By the way, I like the ending very much.

I love how this brings deeper meaning to our scars and tats, it reminds us that we all have a story to tell. very beautiful write.

Those of us with scars usually have reason to be proud and strong for we survived some challenge or hardship. Those without scars are either too young or haven't really lived their life yet. And in the end, we all die, whether we have lived our life fully or not. This is a wonderful poem to make one think.

I think you meant hardships in "born many hardhips".
