The Tide

The Tide

A Poem by GSJ
"

We all experience the same emotions in various degrees

"
I look at you
And all I see
Is a watery, shimmering reflection of me
I stood where you stand
Not so long ago
Being pulled deep into the ocean
By a strong undertow

Flailing my arms
Hopelessly lost
I began to give up
But at what cost?

My lungs filled with water
I was gasping for breath
My life seemed over
So this was death

But the sun shone above me
A warm guiding light
Some how inspired
I began to fight

Focused and determined
I fought my way up
As my inspiration wait patiently
encouraging my rise
I found myself peering into my parents' sad eyes

Finally, finally
I could breathe the warm air
Realizing this great love of me
Had always been there

I allowed the warmth to comfort me
And fill me inside
And gently, hopefully
I rode home the tide

Wow. Your words took me in. This is a beautiful piece. I enjoyed every part of it. The emotions are dark yet the light comes along in the end. Very nice job. Simply amazing.
