Mistake

Mistake

A Poem by Rachael

We could be happy

We could be together forever

If only, if only

You could think of some one other than yourself

The one night we planned,

the two of us floating along like the world was our own.

If you came tonight then maybe you would be in our bed,

not resting in that one almost permanently.

Your string is getting pulled out, ready to be cut

Though you keep breathing, only through machines..

If to break, so would you.

I sit outside the door hoping you make it through

and even if you don’t, you will be everywhere I look and in my heart forever.

Very two sided. We could have been, we were. I like it, but I had to look at the line "If to break, so would you" for a couple of minutes to get what it was supposed to say. You might try fixing it to improve flow.
