A Seafarers Pledge

A Seafarers Pledge

A Poem by Zach Colgate
"

Some women hold a profound power over the hearts of men. I don't know if they are fully aware of it, but it is there. And it is damn dangerous. That is what this poem is about.

"

I am drawn to you

As some men are drawn to the sea.

Infinitely deep--

a mystery.

Where once were tranquil waters

is boiling now,

and will be still yet again.

A place where men go to find themselves.

A place where men go and are lost.

Sunshine.

Swells.

Hiding stones,

Hiding beauty.

Hiding.

Yet I cannot stop searching,

seeking what lies beneath.

Do not call me brave.

Call me a fool,

And stand aside.

I will learn to sail,

or I will die.

very interesting poem;
a rare topic.
I love the varying line length and the metaphors you've used,
and I've always been fond of short free verse poems.
good job, and again, an interesting read for a woman.

cheers.
