as the sun went downA Poem by Ryn
-as the sun went down i could feel my toes begin to freeze, and it reminded me of last summer when you swung on swings too high and always balanced on the edge of sidewalks, daring to touch the road where death could consume you at 50 miles per hour. i thought to myself that mother would have a fit if she found her baby strewn across the road. when three months came and went and i found myself looking down as the waves overcame rocks and thought of you in your bare feet dancing outside in the brown mush of snow. oh how i wished you were here to tell me how the sky changes colors every minute, but you would never notice unless you were to slow your mind down, and watch as the birds sing to the clouds at 643 in the morning. and so, as the sky turned from blue to yellow, and then on to swirls of purple, all i could feel was my heart burning my chest into pieces.-
