broken deception

broken deception

A Story by mystic

she walks silently down the deserted street hoping to find the one she lost, needing to see him one last time, but knowing she won't see him. He's gone now, she knows he won't be back, but she can't let him go, not yet, not like this. She searches frantically for some sign that this is just a game of his, that he is standing in the shadows laughing at her, but there none the less. Finally, she gives up, she falls to her knees, she cries. Cries until her sobs turn to whimpers and her eyes are bloodshot from the tears, her heart aches as the reality of the situation begins to set in. She pushed him away, pushed him to far, now he is gone, he won't come back. She breaks as her sanity slips away, still hoping he is still her's, wanting him now more than ever. She runs, tears drying on her face, feet pounding the pavement beneath her shoes, her destination in sight, no stopping now she can't think it through, the railing of the bridge within reach, cool metal under her sweating hands, her weight flies forward, her feet leave the ground, she falls. The depth of the water, barely three feet, gives way around her as her forehead meets the rocks on the bottom and her neck snaps. She sleeps, blessed silence after all that pain, she is finally at peace...
He stands at the railing and watches the blood taint the water around her, his fault, he blames himself. He saw her run, tried to call to her, tried to beg her to stop, to tell her he still loved her. He was too late, he sinks to his knees on the bridge pounding his fists against the wood, screaming into the night. He sleeps, right there on the bridge, never wanting to leave the one he loves, the only one he could ever see as his....
