i'd love you with imagined love

i'd love you with imagined love

A Poem by Mike Melanson

i'd love you with imagined love,
on sunny days i'd shout your name
to all the clouds unseen above
and all the leaves on barren trees
would quiver at your absent touch.
like busy bees we'd smell the flowers,
buried in their soiled graves,
while plucking off imagined petals
awash in still, unmoving waves -
i'd dream awake of lonesome love
where instants last unending hours.
unthinkingly i'd contemplate
if phantom fate could sublimate
from such a real and heartfelt hate.
