enticing fate to fancy this

enticing fate to fancy this

A Poem by Mike Melanson

if i can't spare a worthless word
and say it straight-faced, tete-a-tete,
i can't pretend, nor faint to fret
that circumstance is so absurd -

in ways we spoke, in ways we met,
where dancing brought entrancing thought
and now it seems as if i sought,
as if your love i'd lied and lured,
but yet i never meant to pry
apart the ifs and hows, the why -

this nest should rest, should not be stirred
yet wait, these words, they must be heard
i cannot help but vow that i
never meant to hope, to try
enticing fate to fancy this,
this life askew with stolen kiss
