FALL BURN

FALL BURN

A Poem by rutherford

Clattering flocks

of leaves dance down the pavement

angry and fearful

of the wind’s wild rush

White noise whoosh

building into crescendos

of excitement

--more leaves to shake!

Dead brown dry

smoke smell

wraps around

my cortex

forever and ever

Love the images you paint in this piece, John - Fall is the most sensory-rich season.

Most pleasurable verse. Old worldly, evocative. Thank you.

Thank you Rosalind.

You are very welcome.
Beautifully expressed, rutherford. I could feel that cold wind whistling around your words and am afraid we're in for a cold winter. And how I hate the cold! Very fine poetry.

this is a cold, windy day in november...

and also feels like the rush of life receding as we move into the winter of our existence...

i really like all your new pieces...just enough abstractness to make them quite interesting.

Life, regardless of its splendour, leads to grief
But life without splendour is naught but grief
The splendour is the solace; seek it out and celebrate
Its memory is the hand that holds yours while you cry
