HAND HELD GOD

HAND HELD GOD

A Poem by rutherford

Poetry in the digital age continued...

Some see a surrogate
     to existence
Intimate ever
     present confidant
Mini-god that knows:
      family
      friends
      habits
      diversions
      location (at all times)
A golden ratio of handheld perfection:
      iPhone, therefore I am.

I could do without all this technology. I have a phone that does one amazing thing. It calls people. Sad days are upon us when our youth can text like lightning, play multiple video games, and keep up with all the social media, but they walk into walls while looking down at their hands and half of them can't pen a proper letter. Gaa. Don't get me started. Angi~

Ha! Love this, John! I knew what you were getting at, yet I didn't see the punch line coming. Great piece!

Laughed out loud at the Descartes reference at the end. Yes, these days it is the cellphone that makes the man. You have a fan in me, Jk.

Thanks Jacob. Proofing is my weakness and I need all the help I can get.
We use technology to created extensions to the human brain. This is somewhat like a tail being an extension of a dog. The problem is that over time 'the tail begins to wag the dog'. We lose control of the things that we create at our peril.
