THE EPIC HAIKU OF MIRACULOUS NOTHING*

THE EPIC HAIKU OF MIRACULOUS NOTHING*

A Poem by rutherford
"

More infantile wordplay. Title credit goes to my then 9-year old daughter. 67 or 68% of this was inspired by George Carlin's "Jumbo Shrimp".

"

My undersized giant was decisively noncommittal

when he placed his dainty juggernaut on the rugged doily.

Against the malicious beneficence of the exclusively everyman

the oversized midget was expertly incompetent

leaving him purposefully aimless

in the tumultuous serenity of

the jam-packed void.

Against hard pillows

my emotional robots

listened to the harmonious cacophony of soft rock.

When the maniacal angel articulated

his mumbles of modest vanity

the aristocratic tramp saw

the logic of his irrationality.

Thankful ingrates and gracious louts

were precisely casual

in their talk of old time modernization

and magical realism.

Watch out for the pompous modesty

of the despotic anarchist.

The realistic fantasy of his nonconformist independence

is benignly harmful

with its bustling desolation.

I was happily disappointed

at the precise randomness

of the militant pacifists.

The wild stoics

and their strident indifference

were notoriously bland

and conveniently difficult.

A hideous beauty was

blatantly obscure

in the face of extraordinary blandness.

Compare his ardent permissiveness

to his strident tolerance

and you will find the result insanely reasonable

even though his trustworthiness was reliably questionable.

Unorthodox fundamentalists

confronted traditionalist radicals

over unprincipled tenets.

Meanwhile, the hedonistic puritans

were expertly incompetent

at making overwhelming understatements

about button-down eroticism.

We could go on with unique repetitions

but now at the beginning of the end

our time is fraught with

selective randomness

and zealous timidity.

Haha! This was really funny, and a real mind bender! This messed with my head, in a titillating and good way. The real punch came when you said magical realism! I never realized that the term was an oxymoron! It was awesome that you could just use a regular term instead of inventing something there. Hilarious! That one really got me! lol God bless, and I'll see you around!

Big fan of George Carlin, I too am always on the lookout for oxymorons. This was tremendously fun wordplay!

:) Great stuff!

Thanks Rita. Glad you liked those lines.
Mmppphhh. Sorry, looks like it came out of a mental meat grinder.

Tam, couldn't agree more. Unstructured play here but it needs lots of pruning.
