you have one powerful set of words there, and i agree there is hope even for those who feel beaten so far down. i'm glad to find him settled and ok. kudos to you for discussing such an imporant issue face the youth of this world let alone the US which i like but it still has a lot to learn before they claim to have a more encouraging environment on the youth who will someday become leaders between now and 2099.

Ludicrous ... thankyou for your review :)
Not every mother has this persistant supportive love. Love in action is the only love that affects change. Sitting at home in judgement, "loving" dispite the disapointment from affar, will not save anyone. I loved the mother in this poem! The stanza "Stealthy the hunt begins.
She flys on the wings of love.
Providing the key to freedom.
Moving in with the spirit of a dove."
Every child wants a mother like that. Even when they are all grown up!!! Loved it!

I would wager there is not a person among us who has not felt the tiger's breath of addiction on our necks, be it our own or a loved one's, and having suffered or watched another suffer through it is the most difficult thing to endure. You captured the essence of the disease, and the cure, beautifully. I believe our greatest work comes from personal tragedy and/or triumph. Such a well written piece. I thank you for sharing this with us, and I am so pleased your family is whole again.
brilliant portrayal of a mother's love and patience. well written and seething with emotion...you are lucky to have turned things around...not everyone can

Wow...this is unspeakably powerful, a true statement from the heart...I can relate to every word of this, and I'm sure my mother could as well...but even without the personal connotations, this to me is what poetry is all about.

Thankyou so much.. it was straight from my heart.. x
I can understand how a mother have to release the grasp of their young as that get older and begins a life without them. It is a difficult transition to have to get use too. I really enjoyed how you displayed the stanzas as a big wild cat mother allowing the youth to step out in the world on their own.
VERY powerful stuff. Glad to hear this is in the past now (and you were at least able to make a positive out of it).
