Baiting Bated

She taught me to spell bated

 

If I could be anything right now what would I be

Standing shore-side with her

Staring into the sea

 

Watching the sun makes its dash beyond the horizon

I long to kiss away her tears and dry her eyes

Burned by the fire I dare not look away

Afraid to speak for what I might say

 

I feel her see through me as there's no way to hide

Wasting a moment tears in my eyes

 

All that I have ever been and all I will ever be

Caught in the moment as the sun reaches the sea

No time to tarry as the moment draws near

Fly away brilliant sun fly away from here

 

Cast in the heavens written in the skies

I cannot help but love her and I don't even try

Admonishing my past I watch her retreat

I stand steely while my heart falls at her feet

 

Telling me to remember what I could never forget

Beautiful words whispered on the wind have been sent

 

So draw to me closer as you travel away

Smile when you think of me smile today

Believe in my honor as I believe in my love

As the fragrance of my essence permeates your soul.

 

As for now perhaps beautiful words will sustain this moment. The intensity of my desire to be with you guides me to act boldly steadily and thoughtfully. I want nothing more than to be with you. It's funny that you should suggest that I sleep, I cannot help but wonder if you are as stuck as I have been. You are simply beauty manifest in human form to my very soul. A nectar which I have thirst for and the soul mate I have deeply craved.

 

I steadfastly crave the time and place to bask in your presence.

 

I wait with baited breath the return to your sweet embrace.

Ahhh. Bated baited. Beautiful testament to a love that survies time and distance for the her here. Nice mix of rhythm and meter... raises this above lymric or poem, to something more weighty and substantial.
