Solitude of silence

Solitude of silence

A Poem by Rusty

Solitude of silence

The darkness creeping in

You are quite right my friend

I’ve gone ‘round the bend

I cannot find solace

I cannot find the end

Though I breathe in earnest

I’m wishing for the end

I’ve tried all the beginnings

Tasted every one

Tried to bandage all the wounds

But still there’s only one

So sleep well in your palace

The one I could not hold

Wash my spittle from your chalice

Forget about the old

What once was thought as epic

Is pathetic in the end

A mumbling servant to what I’ve loved

I grieve my long lost friend

So in my solitude of silence

As my darkness steals this day

You are right in your assessment

I’ve gone ‘round the bend

Yes gone quite ‘round the bend

the melody of that which was once was had but, is now, lost. this is solid poetry, with strengthening elements of rhyme, meaning, and rhythm.

"So sleep well in your palace
The one I could not hold
Wash my spittle from your chalice
Forget about the old"

the object of another's resentment always forgets first. this is talent-laden poetry.

Love this verse. It would fit so well within some of the poems I have written. So heart wrenching...

. i hope you transcend the loss soon ... i've been in this place ... but the pain has left me now ... this piece is so beautiful that it plays like a song ... incredibly melodious work, dear poet ...

I like the circular structure of this piece- it really reflects the psychological exploration in your poem. 'solitude', 'silence', 'darkness' this is what plagues the mind (& heart) in the wake of loss...a very poignant piece.
