Lost at sea

Lost at sea

A Poem by Rusty

I sat beneath a moonless sky

And watched the dipper run

The cup spilled stars into the sea

And of it I had none

I danced with a drunken girl

She chose me as her own

But when her boy did take her home

I had no place to run

I listened to the water lap

Where my toes did touch the sand

And wondered why I wonder so much

A solitary man

Solitude is not so bad

When I want to be alone

Alone when all is distant shores

No course can take me home

I paint the smile

Hide the past

Sideways glance

I wish to flee

I rue the day

The storm did pass

In a crowd there’s only me

Seeking sails from distant shores

The wind she will not blow

Drunken tales and reverie

Of which I will have none

Sitting in a quiet room

The walls are shrinking in

Alone again alone at last

It’s all I’ve ever been
