Scarecrow Raven SmilesA Poem by RustySilent solitude on a sunny day The past casts a long shadow and will not go away The present seems a sorry choice while love awaits a touch The future such a distant thing that never offers much
Fleeting flies criss cross the sky like the tears that cloud the sky I grab at earth and smash my fist screaming out why Peace on earth a fools dream writhing in this pain Never will I hope again never never again
My mind awash in a rush of words things I should have said In this field my mind is made I cannot stand this pain I hear the things I should have heard when they were whispered low I missed then and I miss them now where am I to go
Smite me now my shallow guilt I have no one else to blame Bury me here in fallow fields where all my follies play Sing no more you mocking bird everyone knows the score Stop now God this beating heart I've use for it no more
Take my heart it's useless here for with it she has left It not a crime I offered it there was no crime of theft Watch the blood return to earth await bleached bones to dust Silent solitude on a sunny day I laid my soul to rest
