The Finer ThingsA Poem by RustyFiner Things Caught
up in his wilderness Flying
'neath his wing Sheltered
in a school Ready
to leave the finer things
leave the finer things Atlantic
Gulf stream waters flow warm Not
unlike the Kotzebue Sound A
gulf a distance from happiness It'll
come around We
will come around The
distance is soon to be washed away Like
a Kivalina shore As finer
things lose their luster They
shine no more, shine no more Dakota
has its whippoorwill Wyoming
its morning buck Alaska
has its heart of gold That
makes you want to f**k Jet
planes carry you so far away Never
content to stay where you land But
peace will find you instantly When
you take my hand When
you hold my hand Arctic
winds blow cold tonight They
chill me to the bone I
search to find the evening star Like
a feather on the wind Peace
and love a world away I
send my whisper on the wind My
heart warms that these gentle words Will
surely make their mark When
my love is with you safe Landing
where you are Landing
where you are Caught
up in his wilderness Flying
'neath his wing Your
shelter lies 'neath an Arctic Sun There
you'll find the finer things
you'll find the finer things Worry
not my precious love and
with my heart be safe The
breath I breathe is yours to keep My
love is not a waif So
as you stir deep beneath your skin Your
longing shall avail My
winters night will bring to your hearth Fires
warmth Passions wealth though now you travail Never
shall you walk again alone Bonded
we are one I
slip away to write that book Yes
I too am stunned Caught
up in his wilderness Flying
'neath his wing Your
shelter lies 'neath an Arctic Sun There
you found the finer things
