Fleeting Butterfly

Fleeting Butterfly

A Poem by Rusty

As if seeing would again capture the fleeting butterfly

That which we did not see but felt as its gossamer wings dropped the magic dust upon us

Not of Love but of Belonging

Belonging to something while we yet walk alone through this infinite void

Surely it all dies

But to be alive in that moment

The one where we belonged somewhere

And to someone who had crawled up inside our soul to sleep like a cat

Then I breathed

Then I felt

Then I lived

Thinking that seeing them again would restore that life within me

I sought

I seek

I crave

When it wasn’t their presence that made me whole it was their wholeness that made me see

And if I try hard enough

I can see them again

And surely that butterfly will light upon my skin once more

Belonging to something while we yet walk alone through this infinite void
Surely it all dies
But to be alive in that moment
The one where we belonged somewhere

I loved this part, such depth in this,
So nicely written and well expressed.
