Free
flowing tears
The sun makes its break
Reclaims the winter sky
my heart founders in night
She lies cold
In the grip of my mind
This lifeless love I cannot lay to rest
Ash, sackcloth, and mourners must wait
We gather here though not together
The funeral of the dream
I stare into the dun
I cannot will it back below the horizon
I walk in this frigid world
Ice freezing to my brow
Falling stars and northern lights
Proclaiming look to no one
Upon awakening
I retrace my steps
Into the sky I run
The sun smiles, the mountains laugh
Toiling for the day to be done
To be done
Just be done
I steel myself to forget her
In this day of bitter cold
Yet the more dirt I throw upon her
The more I unearth
Silent she stares at me from the grave
Her mouth whispers Romeo
I choke back Juliet
Whispering my own fate
I swallow hard my bitter regret
Not at having loved her
But the fact we ever met
I breathed life when I breathed her in
Breathing me in she met our death
Now the mountains laugh and the sun she smiles
Cause the warmth is hers to keep
Cold as steel I walk this earth
Wondering of love I could not keep
