Quiet tearsA Poem by Rusty
Quiet tears grace my cheek
For children I do not know Just one day shall soon be one week As presents get covered in snow Icy hearts may never thaw The summer may never come Rocking wails will echo on The insanity of it all I say the prayers and beseeching God For no human power can assuage The grief of loss so bitterly cast It's evil hand upon our age Though I know them not I clearly see Together we must turn Gently lay in final sleep And pray our sleep will return As for me My tears will dry My brave face It will return But for tonight I let them run Tears fueled by grief For the innocents that have been harmed Alone at night I send a prayer for those that suffer more Asking God to place their burden Squarely where it can be bore I'll gladly take up The mourners cross And drag it down my lane I shed the tears for tragedy That will never be explained Quiet tears They wet my sheets Down my cheek they run Quietly I thank my God For my daughters and my sons To these prayers I will avail There is nothing more I can do Join my now in this travail There's nothing more to do Quiet tears Quiet night Yet I can hear the wails Children lost and parents grief Everything else just pales Quiet tears They are my lot But nothing by compare I pray dear God rush to them And let them know your there
