petrichor

A Poem by russ
"

breathe deep

"
Darkness
and the sweet aroma of petrichor scented breeze wafting through the air
Relaxing, refreshing,
Reminding me of younger days when far away I'd stay out in the rain
Soaking it in, loving every moment
feeling my feet squelch in delight at the sensation of mud between my toes
happy floating free on down towards the sea.
Winding up wherever the river wanted me.
We lived out in the woods, right by the river,
on the outskirts of a quiet little town
and we'd play all that we could out in the river,
we'd swim out till we couldn't touch the ground and there was no'one else for miles around,
we'd lay still and hear only the sound of our breathing and the slow and steady river.

Petrichor is an amazing word! Glad to sea it featured in a poem. It's not just a meteorological feeling but also the feeling you get once it hits you. Thanks for sharing.
