The Morning of January Sixteenth
Just enough to answer the Question
Where did winter Go?
The cradle of a plasma flatscreen
Discarded after Christmas,
Shredded by a turbo-prop.
Just enough to create
A framework for contemplation.
Honing a lens of reflection on
Life lived in service
To heightened awareness.
Just enough to paint a backdrop
Giving contrast to a palette
Of bipedal uniqueness
And the struggle to celebrate
Myriad expressions of the Divine.
An industrial box of powdered milk
Spilled from a passing plane
Embracing the landscape
With the love of a crocheted afghan
Is enough to inspire new Questions.

This poem gives me a grim impression of humanity- of both wasting earth and human bodies; reaching for something unachievable, but being inspired to try anyway.

I also do abstract art. Something that I enjoy about abstraction, which can also apply to poetry, is that the viewer or reader has a distinctly subjective experience.
Thank you.
