Inherent Grace

Inherent Grace

A Poem by James O'Rourke
"

Welcome to the show

"

At the start this may seem odd

But the donkey doesn't mind change

It powers on through the gelatinous mud

During Spring downpours

Endures the humiliation

Of the legendary shows

In seedy bars across Tijuana

Displays its mastery of patience

As innumerable breeds of insects insist

On invading its anal aerospace

The donkey truly knows how to take it all in stride

Interesting poem! Unusual topic, that challenges the typical associations with a donkey.

I love it!

Enjoyed the whole poem, loved the line, 'The donkey truly knows how to take it all in stride.' Reminds me of how Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.

Beccy.
