Anatomy and QuestionsA Poem by James O'RourkeLove through the eyes of a scientific manI was made with two feet One to follow the other Travelling in one direction Travelling to one goal I was made with one heart Pumping blood and emotion Feeling life continue Feeling desires for more than life I was made with one brain Demanding logic reign over all Calculating the simplest route Calculating the possibilities down to one What happens when my brain short circuits? It tells my heart that love is a fallacy Instructs my feet to bypass enjoyment But drives me to succeed in society's needs What happens when my heart skips a beat? My feet stumble and drive me to the ground Causes inattentiveness in the brain But gives me such happiness I cry What happens when my feet can't agree? This brain of mine may short circuit This heart of mine may skip a beat But they fear nothing Because you are at the end of each road You can reestablish the connection in my brain You can squeeze my heart into a proper pattern You can straighten my feet So that I may end up at your front door You have to agree Wouldn't that be a lovely sight? © 2015 James O'RourkeAuthor's Note
