Ascension

Ascension

A Poem by Runo N. Savel
"

Head up high...

"

I walk slowly

To an open space

I look at the sky

No clouds in sight

Open

A gentle breeze

Strikes my face

I close my eyes

Head to the sky

Arms stretched out

The wind gets stronger

Pushing against me

Eyes still closed

Head up high

I smile

Take me away

Make my soul fly

The wind stronger still

Almost pushes me over

I still stand tall

It’s not time yet

The wind begins to swirl

Forms a funnel

Around my body

The funnel closes in

Gets closer to me

Almost touching my arms

I tilt my head

Even higher up

I open my eyes

And my mouth

Simultaneously

I let out a scream

As my soul escapes

Ascends with the funnel

To a land unknown

As my body collapses

Hits the ground below

Lifeless

As I listen to the high winds screaming and howling out side tonite I feel what you have penned.
