RiversideA Poem by Runo N. SavelSitting on the riversideSitting on the riverside Waiting for his hand I just keep on sitting here I do not dare to stand For if I raise my body up How then will he see me? Doesn’t know how to look up Only below him can he see I’m not good enough for him Not good enough for any man I don’t expect him to come to me He knows I understand So why do I keep sitting here, Watching them all pass by? What else have I got to do? I do not dare to cry My hand is so lonesome It forgot how to feel It has forgotten how to touch Something that is real One of these days I just might Leave the side of the river Where will I go, you ask? Right into the river © 2014 Runo N. Savel |
