On the bank of the riverA Poem by Runo N. SavelOn
the bank of the river, I’ll wait for thee I’ll
wait right here under the white birch tree I
have no idea when you might arrive Nor
do I know if you are even alive I
know neither your name nor your heart’s desire You
are, though, what my heart doth require I
can feel it now, the feeling of your hand As
we walk together exploring this great land I
know not from where you will be coming But
I await the sound of your footsteps drumming Setting
the rhythm for the start of our lives The
rhythm of a symphony that no one survives For
now I have the river to stay here with me But
I will be here waiting, right under this tree © 2014 Runo N. Savel |
