Gentle SpiritA Poem by Runo N. SavelLove is not always comfortingGentle spirit Parasite of my being What do you seek? What have I not already given you? What have you not already taken? Why do you show yourself again? I have tried so hard To keep you from returning To keep you from defeating me But I should have known You would return Breaking all my barriers Seeping into my core Feeding on what is left What you had not consumed before Gentle spirit Unfaithful comrade Why do you betray me? What have I done to you? Why must you feed on my solace? Why can you not let my heart rest? My heart learned to recover From the false hopes you brought prior I had learned to look forward With my chin held high With no one to hold it there but me You have taken my independence I have become dependent on you I need to believe in your false hopes In a false hope of having a hand to hold Gentle spirit Vengeful adviser Why do you lead me to emptiness? Why does your path lead me to sorrow? Why can I not escape your grasp? Why can you not let your pupil grow? You grab me by the throat And throw me to the ground Disguised as a rogue Angel So your true form can come and save me You exploit my heavy heart Given to me by God You use it for your own needs So that I will always need you So that you will always have a host© 2012 Runo N.
