A Remembrance Day ThoughtA Poem by Runa Pigdena nod to Lt.Col. John McCrae's In Flander's FieldsAt
Canadian cenotaphs, the poppies blow Among
the wreaths, row on row, To mark
our gratitude and respect For
those who have chosen to protect Our way
of life from a distant foe. For them
who fell so long ago As well
as those who still must go, Our
memory will not neglect At
Canadian cenotaphs. Scars,
both seen and hidden deep below, Remind
us the cost of the peace we know. We must
continue our retrospect But also
be mindful of those we elect, Lest
more poppies blow, at Canadian cenotaphs. © 2019 Runa Pigden |
