The Label MachineA Poem by Alex McFadyenPolitics is the hot topic of late, with the exception of the economy, but who cares about that.
Democracy is a game and we are the pawns that force checkmate Only to play over again with different winners and different losers But it is only more of the same Majority always wins be it power or the populace Because whoever has the most toys wins And toy guns point in every direction Simultaneously Shall we play another ice cold game of Russian Roulette? Or possibly pin the tail on the elephant? Is it only logical that logic is our only choice and conclusion? The North American blue elephants thunder their roar “Love and liberty are all that matter and if you don’t believe us We will stomp all over you.” While the gritty donkeys bellow their war cry “Always strive for PEACE!” Yes, they will seek yet never obtain The giant label machine will wine and stain The players push each other’s buttons Operate pulleys on strings Until their label machine is on auto pilot Pushing onwards at 360 degree angles. Wait, what were we talking about again? Did you know that BC borders parts of Alaska? The black and white painted walls are Palin away and I can’t help but wonder “Maybe black this time?” The world is so novel that I just can’t bare to read one. I want to free myself from the chains of democracy But whenever I do, I lose my voice I don’t have a choice But to play my part Like the tool that I am On the giant label machine. © 2008 Alex McFadyen |
