The partyA Chapter by ruefinaWhat I got home I said hi to my parents, who were in the living room discussing bills for the school. I said hi to the cooks, the maids, the gardeners. I seem mean but I’m nice if you get to know me. I then went in the basement where the party decorations were, I got the blue and gold ones. Trey and his friends are supposed to meet me back at the school to help me decorate before 7. Which is less than 4 hours away, since school is over at 3. The butler/driver, Richard who lives with us, helped me pack snacks after that we loaded the limo and we were off. When we got there I spotted Trey and his friends. “You guys ready.” I said taking the box of decoration out the trunk. “Yea hand me those streamers.” Trey said peppy. I just smirk. “I hang out with cheerleaders too much.” “Hand us the banner. We’ll decorate.” Jesse (the red headed) and Kyle (the blond) out pepped Trey, who just shrugged and took the streamers and headed in the schools with the other guys who carried the boxes. “Well speaking of cheer leading….” Kyle cut me off. “Um we were never talking about cheer leading.” “Now we know who the dumb one is.” I remarked. “It’s not nice to call yourself dumb.” Kyle said clueless. Jesse and I looked at her. “What?” “Anyway I’m the new captain.” I finally said. “What!?” Jesse screamed making Richard (the driver) jump and probably anyone in a 5 block radius.”You can’t…. I’m the captain!” Trey and the other football players ran back to see what was happening. “I can and I did, since I was a gymnast and was a cheerleader for 5 schools I deserve it.” “Cheerleader, ha. You probably never went to nationals.” “Oh, I haven’t? Well for 5 years who have you been 2nd place too?” I sneered. “Well, the Whales, the Vikings, the Chipmunks, the Cauliflowers. And also the Lions.” Kyle answered. “Yea I was captain of all those teams.” “That was you? I knew you look familiar…. Wait the Lions captain was blonde.” Kyle notifies. “Yea I rock blonde.” The boys chucked. “Yea anyway you are not stealing my squad.” Jesse commented. “Well, I just did. If you want it prove it.” I cheered doing a round off then a back flip landing in a split. Trey helped me up. I dusted off. Kyle and Jesse started doing flips and splits. “Stop, I meant if you want to attack you need to talk smack.” I cheered. “But I don’t have….” Jesse cut Kyle off. “I got one.” She took a step toward me. “This Lisa person got lots to say, but can’t say it to my face. She thinks she’s the queen, trying to rule everything. But you’re something I’m not, s**t.” She said in my face, I folded my arms while some of the boys “oh”. “You can’t talk, you have s**t written all over your butt. And I don’t think, I know I’m a queen, I rep. supreme. I don’t rule everything, just you. Now sit because you are my ….” “Don’t you dare call me that.” “Oh she got you Jesse.” One boy commented. “Bring it, I know queens have weaknesses, how about if I kiss their….” She stopped because she was kissing my…. um…. boyfriend…. Does that even rhyme? Trey pulled away, I pushed her. “What are you doing?” I said more like a point then a question. “Yea sis, that’s not cool.” Trey said stepping back. “Wait sis?” I asked pointing to Jesse. “Bro?” I pointed to Trey. “That’s disgusting. Can I like kissing my brother and dumb blond go do the banner?” When we were alone outside, which mean Richard was gone. “You really didn’t know we were related? Did you?” He asked as we walked to the gym. “Yea you guys are like identical twins. I can’t even tell you apart.” I exaggerated. “So I’m taking that as a definite no.” He reciprocates. “Are you guys twins, I ask cause you guys are in the same grade.” “I say yes, but Jesse says no…. I’m born at 11:57 and Jesse was born at 12:01.” “Oh.” “You know that makes two of use, not telling the other.” “What you mean?” I asked confused as we turned the corner. “Cheer leading, smack talk, gymnastics, and your whole life?” He said exaggerating with a smile. “Wait how about your whole life?” “We can talk about it at 7 pm on Friday, at Rockwood Diner.” “Is that how you’re going to ask me out?” I asked pushing him. “How about a kiss to say yes.” He said leaning in, I backed up. “You have your sister Jesse name written all over you.” I laughed while he wiped his lips.”How about a hug to say yes about the date?” He shrugged. “Sure.” We hugged, and parted. “You know you pulled away from Jesse’s kiss 10 seconds into it.” I said out of nowhere. Trey just looked at me and laughed shaking his head. We were done 40 minutes before seven, so we went home to get ready. I put on my new strapless blue knee length short tight dress with blue 3 in heels and jewelry from my mom. Who curled my hair, added a little make-up, and then let Richard dropped me off. I ended up being the second person to arrive at the school. Trey opened the door for me. “You look really awesome.” He said he shutting the door after me. “I do try.” I joked. “You look great to. I guess football players clean up well.” Trey had on denim jeans, a red dress shirt, and black dress shoes. “Sweet of you to say.” He said, we laughed as we walked into the school. People started coming at 6:58, the first couple came in and passed me. “Um… excuse me, you forgot my welcome present.” I said stopping them. “Oh sorry, I didn’t know we were suppose to bring one.” She answered. Then I spotted her wrist. “That’s a cute bracelet.” I commented “Thanks my mo….” “I think she means she wants it.” Her date acknowledged. “Smart boyfriend.” I commented while he grinned. The girl grasps her wrist and shakes her head. “Then leave.” She sighs, hesitates, and hands over her bracelet. “Enjoy the party.” I did this to every other person or couple, (I’m planning on giving it all back after the party) but with hats, jewelry, and purses. When a lot of people were here, I thought it was time to start the party. I got on the stage that was in front of the gym. “Okay, welcome to my Welcome party. I’m going to turn the dj off for a sec.” I said into the microphone while the music and the people died down. “And start karaoke, but first who having a great time?!” They all started yelling. “Great, I’ll like to go first.” I grabbed my blue sparkly gold guitar. “I’ll like to dedicate this song to a friend. Quick info, I just wrote this song a couple of hours ago while decorating so it may need a little twicking.” “It’s called “Life.” (I don’t want to get into my amazing singing right now…. So I won’t.) I did a final guitar solo then looked up. Everybody mouth was open. “S…” They went wild before I could say anything. They clapped, they cheered. I just smiled and giggled realizing how great that actually turned out. “Thanks you. Now anyone, who wants to top that, the stage is yours.” I said sitting my guitar down, I got off the stage to the gym floor, were Trey met me. “Wow! My girlfriend’s a cheerleader, a dancer, now a singer. What aren’t you?” “We’re not an official couple.” He gave me a “sorry” look. “And I’m not a football player.” He laughed, I laughed. Mia and Drew came towards us… well Mia pulling Drew over to us. “Lisa, you were amazing. Who was that song for?” Mia said, I looked over to Trey. I guess she didn’t get to understand it because Trey said: “What are you guys doing here? Didn’t Lisa dis invite you?” Mia looked at me confused. “You might have misunderstood me. I said I was going to personally invite them.” I lied. “No, I remember I said you should dis invite them, and you said okay….” I cut him off. “Okay stop. Mia, Drew stay and have fun.” “Speaking of fun, my friends are here. Can you guys hang out with Drew? Okay bye.” Mia rapidly walking backwards to two blond headed girls. “Do you want to dance, Lisa?” A voice said, and then I realize Drew was talking. “Um... Sure.” I answered. Then Trey stopped me. “Wait, what?” He said “Babe, I’m royal I have to be nice to the peasants.” I joked, he shrugged. “Fine next song I’m all yours.” He shrugged again, but I realized he was joking. I followed Drew to the dance floor. “You know I was just messy with the peasant thing.” I confessed when we started dancing. A short chubby girl was singing a fast beat song. “I know, your queen.” He joked beaming. “I’m no queen, queens’ have to work. I’m a princess, who sits around waiting to pick a prince.” I assured him. “So do you have anyone in mind?” When he asked that I froze and I just spited out: “So you didn’t answer my question, when I ask why you were staring at me.” “So you’re a black girl going into a white school.” He quickly changes the subject. I laughed. “We suck. Okay let’s answer each others question…um… yes and I’m half black and half you guys.” “Wait, what? Yes?” “You asked do I have anyone in mind. Your turn” “Okay...So...What was the question?” “Are you trying to stall?” I asked as I stopped dancing. “Maybe.” He laughed. His eyes shun. “Why were you staring at me?” I said loud as the song changed into a slow song (I didn’t look up to see who was singing now. “Oh look at that Treys all yours. See you later.” He said as he got lost in the crowd. “Drew, wait!” I yelled. “What was that about?” Someone asked behind me. I turned to find Trey. “Oh um...Nothing, let’s dance.” I said pulling him toward me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, while he put his hands on my waist. I was now staring into his mysterious dark brown eye, while we moved slightly to the song. He met my gaze. “You remember when you said my smile is my charm? Well I think your eyes are your charm.” “You’re joking right. I hate my eye color, it’s dull.” I commented. Trey just looked at me and laughed. “What?” “Anyone would kill to have your black girl eyes.” “I’m mixed what you guys don’t get. Or maybe you’re trying to date me because I’m the only black girl here.” “No, it’s because I’m trying to get close to you, so when the war starts for your eyes. I’ll be closer to have it.” He joked, I pushed him. He grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug. I pulled away. “What’s that for?” I said confused. “The song, thank you.” “Don’t thank me, you gave me the idea.’ “Yea your right, so thank me. You’re welcome.” I laughed at him. He joined in. © 2015 ruefina |
