Settle my bullet

Settle my bullet

A Poem by Rudi Massyn
"

My beloved South Africa

"
A forgetful denomination we are soon to be
Not accepted, uninvited politically
fighting to stay in the light
In darkness, out of sight

Pessimistic vision is not worth the load
I cannot overcome and start to grow
Some of the blame we have taken
But is our future now forsaken?

Will the deaf ears always be our only audience?
Our past a doomed eternal sentence
Forgiveness a sentiment not easily shared
Cry our “beloved” hearing impaired

Should we pack our settler’s boots and bite the bullet?
Turn our heads in shame and forget?
That we were adopted by a mother full of scorn
And as a people were never even born
