Alina

Alina

A Poem by rudelizard
"

Alina is a female given name of Greek origin which means "light".

"

Dear light of my life,

You may not know me by sight,

Perhaps my voice may ring a bell,

If it does not, that’s alright,

I know it’s nothing personal,

Relax and don’t be alarmed,

I pray this kiss reaches you,

As echoes caressing your arms,

I hope you know that you’re safe,

Although you’re currently bound,

One day you’ll hear me real clear,

Relate my face to the sound,

For now I’ll hum you a song,

You’ll know the rhythms of love,

You think it’s soothing right now,

Imagine when you’re with us,

We’ll gaze in awe back and forth,

Holding perfection at last,

Picture the smiles that we’ll share,

There’ll be abundance of laughs,

But, time it stands in the way,

Anxious we wait every night,

That one day soon you’ll arrive,

To mend our absence of light.

And, this poem is certainly arresting to the heart - capturing a fine long dream and the optimism of its' fruition. You have aptly used metaphors where necessary and have cultivated a fine piece of poem - where one can almost see the 'abundance of laughs', when light is finally revealed. Certainly relished the verse !

Very good; you really get a sense of the words and form images to go with them; it also flows extremely well, which always makes a poem more enjoyable to read.

I love the dream like tone of your words, as if floating upon the page, which I find so appealing. A beautiful romantic gem.
