Dreaming

Dreaming

A Poem by Ruby of the Mountains
"

I will myself to fight on. To fight for peace To fight for them To fight for us. So I can try, once more To live in a dream.

"

I reach out.

For the distant wish
The shooting star
Silver raining, shimmering
Past the glowing moon.

I try to hold on.

Grasping the fabric
Of time and space
Willing for me to stay
Yet my hand lets go.

I am falling.

The darkness welcomes me
Nothingness stretching below
The tiniest sliver of light
Shining brightly above.

I try reaching.

The glow is dimming
And before my eyes
It shatters.
My hope breaks with it.

I wake.

My dream is gone.
Reality greets me with arms wide open
But I turn away
Refusing to see the truth.

Where has it gone?
What has the world come to?

I stand alone
Voicing thoughts that nobody appreciates
Yet I will myself to fight on.

To fight for peace
To fight for us
To fight for them.

So I can try, once more,
To live in a dream.
