A Poem by Ruby of the Mountains

A poem we had to write for class. I wrote it in around 5-10 minutes, didn't take that long. I hope you enjoy reading this!!! :)

The call of the morning

The peace of the evening

An echo of song.

The birds.

The spark of determination

The howl beneath the moon

A pack of brothers, of sisters, of family.

The wolves.

The roar of the wild

The eyes in the night

A predator of the shadows.

The cats.

The grace of the wind

The thundering of freedom

A shining knight on four legs.

The horses.

The chattering of mischief

The bright curiosity

A toolmaker in nature’s hands.

The monkeys.

The whisper below the waves

The quiet splash

A finned creature, lurking in darkness.

The fish.

The creeping feet, slithering tail

The hoarse hiss of warning

A scaled animal.

The reptiles.

The slide of movement on the sea floor

The spurt of ink and the change of colors

A boneless creature below the ocean’s surface.

The invertebrates.

The hum in the sunlight

The slightest flicker of movement

A tiny creature.

The insects.

The unity of the world

The changing of life

Ones who think they stand at the top.

The people.

Though different in many ways

Shapes and sizes and colors,

Personalities and appearances,

We are the same.

The animals.

Author's Note

I wish people would stop thinking they're the best and all, because it really gets on my nerves...I think everyone as equal, and I tend to get mad if others see otherwise, so if you think otherwise, please don't bring this up!!! Thank you!!! Also, I believe strongly in animal rights, and while some may think I'm obsessed, I, however, think I am right in what I believe in...okay, I'll stop ranting.
