My Brother That Never WasA Poem by Ruby of the MountainsA poem about my imaginary brothers and my ex-friends whom I used to consider as my brothers. (Something I decided to write to relieve my stress :))Once upon a time, I had two brothers.
One was rude and perverted Mean yet kind Bad yet good.
The other was clumsy and careless An obivious smile plastered to his face Innocent and kind.
Then suddenly... The horror of betrayal The emptiness of being alone And just... Sadness.
They weren't my real brothers. Only a mere field-trip brought us together While reality wrenched us apart. Neither would spare a glance at me Not even when I broke.
I had always wanted an older brother. He is here now. My brother that never was.
He is rude, cruel, and foul-mouthed The sharp, jagged rocks by the crashing shore The tough gangster that roams the streets His harshness directed at anyone but me. My brother that never was.
He is emotionless, cold, and bitter The biting chill of a blizzard in wintertime The silence in the night His hard eyes would soften, only to me My brother that never was.
He is cheerful, happy, and kind The warmth of the sun The gentleness and grace of a swan His eyes full of pride as he saw my talents My brother that never was.
I had been falling In a pit of endless darkness But I managed to grasp onto a ledge And pull myself up, step by step. Because I saw him. Encouraging me, coaxing me forward Out of the dark that was dragging me down My brother that never was. © 2010 Ruby of the MountainsAuthor's Note
