Sitting here all alone and yet...

Sitting here all alone and yet...

A Poem by Ruby Moon

Sitting here all alone and yet…

Yet something is here, with me

Putting my head over my folded arms

Arms on my drawn up knees

What is that? Is that only a shadow of the tree?

Or was that something else?

A flitting shadow out of the corner of my eyes,

My imagination? Something more sinister?

There! That one shadow turning into a form,

I got you now, lifting my head and body

In one fluid movement, momentum throwing me

An offensive stand, all traces of melancholy forgotten

With a snarl and a growl, desperation

I throw myself on the shadow, hitting each part I can reach

Tears streaming down my face,

I have been found… finally

The first couple of paragraphs, I felt like I was watching a scene take place from a fantasy or sci-fi film. They drew me in instantly. In fact the whole piece sounds a little like a fantasy - which I personally love - perhaps you could take it further though, adding more to the body of the poem. The final paragraph has plenty of impact, maybe it just needs a bit more beef in between! Glad you are writing again. Send more when you can!
