Almost

Almost

A Poem by Aliza

In the time that has past

I almost forgot

The slight quiver of your lips

Your twinkling eye

In the time that has past

I almost forgot

The caress of your callussed hand

The warmth of your breath on my skin

In the time that has past

I almost forgot

Your gentle laugh

The way you never could seem to say

what was truly on your mind

When every sentence ended but somehow

I knew there was more needing, wanting to come out

I almost forgot

How you made me feel

How my heart skips a beat when you say my name

How my skin burns red when your eyes meet mine

I dont know if it has been the same for you

In the time that has past

While you were off fighting for us

Fighting in a war that cant be won

I just thought you should know

The effect you have on me

Now that you are home

The time that has past is over.

I'm in awe because of this. So beautiful and well written. Superb! This touches my heart, although I don't know anyone that went out to war, but it's so very touching...

Breathtaking beyond reason.

I am touched by your words, and I understand what it means to miss someone that much. It's sad that the memories fade some, especially when you want to hold onto them so tightly. Bravo!

thanks guys for the reviews...
my best friend is in the marines, we have been friends for like six years and he has been gone in afghanistan for like year and i got to talk to him on the phone for the first time since he left, the other day. and all of a sudden i just had this crazy idea...i was like....Holy S**t, I am totally in love with this guy. all of these things that i had just experienced as the 'buddy' us wrestling around and holding on to eachother just a little longer then needed, gazing at eachother then laughing and saying something stupid... i realized that i tottally loved every minute of it, and it all came back to me the second that i heard him say my name on the phone...
