Dry Dock

Dry Dock

A Poem by rubie

Dry Dock

I felt it once

A fleeting spark of bliss

Then despair’s abyss

Swallowed it whole

Do not drop your anchor here

This ship will not sail again

The waves gently lap against the hull

But she is no longer seaworthy

Thank you. Your kind words are much appreciated.
This reminds me of Emily Dickinson. Life changes pace as does our journey across the sea. This is fraught with layers of meaning. It is an onion of a poem.

Ah.. so philosophical...
I guess, if one compares life as a dock & its moments as sail, the time - as sailor & the winds - as waves, then life'll be more easy to understand that how oceanic it is & how many up and downs it may have to be conquered. What an excellent poetry you've come up with!

sometimes we feel that we have nothing left in us, that sea has dried up...and the ship is rusted out...the crew of dreams is now gone...

really strong metaphor here.
