On My Way To You

On My Way To You

A Poem by rubie

ON MY WAY TO YOU

From my parched desert I will come

bringing you my thirsty heart

you are my oasis

and I'm on my way to you

With a map that you drew

each of us will come from our own arid place

across the sands of time

and I’m on my way to you

Every night I dream

and try to see your face

and it lights my way toward you

I've learned to read the signs

on my way to you

And when I finally do arrive

after climbing dusty dunes

will I find yet more barrenness

or merely see a mirage?

It seems as if

all I've ever done

is make my way to you

This gave me a sense of moving forward, no matter the obstacles in our way. I especially liked how the ending read.

My best,

Yes, Kelly, I'm so glad that came across to you....
Thank you for your kind review.
And so it goes on and on one step to the next step all the while she waits in her little mirage.

See ya later baby!

Regards,
Al

Thank you for the review, Al
as the four seasons sang, "i keep working my way back to you babe, with a burning love inside"

i don't think there is barrenness...or a mirage...but love that is worth working your way back to.

love the imagery and use of metaphor in this piece.
