On My Way To You

On My Way To You

A Poem by rubie

ON MY WAY TO YOU

From my parched desert I will come

bringing you my thirsty heart

you are my oasis

and I'm on my way to you

With a map that you drew

each of us will come from our own arid place

across the sands of time

and I’m on my way to you

Every night I dream

and try to see your face

and it lights my way toward you

I've learned to read the signs

on my way to you

And when I finally do arrive

after climbing dusty dunes

will I find yet more barrenness

or merely see a mirage?

It seems as if

all I've ever done

is make my way to you

I don't usually read poems but this one caught my attention, it's beautiful! I wish I could write poems but I can never find the right words. I hope to see more lovely ones in the future!

What a beautiful yearning. I love that repetition -- it reminds me of keeping the eyes on the final goal, and also, rechecking that map written for clues to anticipate what could be at the end of the road.
a delight to read you again! :D

Yes, indeed, moon skittles. Eyes on the prize..

Thank you for your kind review...
The fragrances as well as the glimpse of whole romance's being reflecting through 'tis piece. Liked the role of wondrous line: "I'm on my way to you". Extremely possessive! It shows how the heart can be so divined 'bout love & its pastel hues. Nice imagery!

Thank you for your kind review! Appreciate your words.
Oh, rubie! This is soooo romantic and sensational. I love it. It is sentimental and honest. It makes me think of a past relationship, and I think everyone can identify with it. Beautiful refrain of the title line. Excellent poetry. Thank you for sharing this one...:)

In search of that love, always seeking but never finding. Ahh, but the more you seek the better chance you will find. Hope keeps this alive for us all. A lovely piece from the heart you have written here Rubie.

All roads lead to love, for better or worse.
It's the journey that makes it worth it when we finally do settle down.
Great piece rubie.

You're welcome. :)
A love that seems to be always out of reach or simply not there... love the parched movement in this piece and even felt myself getting thirstier along the way; the anticipation in the longing; and the flow... i also enjoy the build-up of hope in your stanzas only to have that hope questioned... this brought to mine a relationship I was in; one in which I never felt like I had reached contentment... well-done, Rubie :)
