In Search of a RheostatA Poem by rubieIn Search
of a Rheostat
I shined
my light too brightly A laser
beam I’m told And burned
a hole in my beloved
Who left
me standing in the cold
The fears
he carried with him From past
mistakes he’d made
Provoked
his need to finish us
And
forced his love to fade
So now he
feels much safer
Not
vulnerable or exposed
And I sit
here in sadness
As doors
have all been closed
I’ll try
to cull the lessons
Find
dimmers for that light
But that
won’t change my missing him
And it
sure won’t make things right
They say
when hearts get broken
Your
hopes and dreams must go
But I
will always think of him

winds of sadness blow © 2015 rubieReviews
