Contentment at the Threshold

Contentment at the Threshold

A Poem by rubie

Contentment at the Threshold

Have you ever wondered

what it would be like

to have the universe serve up life

in the image that you’ve dreamed it?

Wouldn’t it be a kick to find magic

in the middle of a well-fought life?

To answer the doorbell when it rings

only to find contentment at the threshold?

What would be wonderful, it seems,

would be to know I’ve earned it and

to meet you with a clean slate

filled with experiences but void of baggage

We could meet as equals, willing to try to

put up our hearts as collateral for the journey,

look into each other’s eyes for the truth

and find out what it feels like to be fulfilled

What an awesome write Rubie my dear! (to meet you with a clean slate filled with experiences but void of baggage) Now THAT would be wonderful. To have the wisdom of having learned from our mistakes and yet leaving the negative baggage and hurts behind. What an awesome thought! ~Sharon

Oh yes!! A threshold that keeps all the past mistakes far enough that the heart is happy. I have always lived a life with no regrets! and I hope that for everyone. It is never late. May you find that magical someone that will respond to each yearning of the heart without you having to say it :D

What a glorious thought! Thank you for your words!
unfortunately this can't come true..there will always be the baggage...but what a nice idea.
and no matter what the past...looking through the eyes of love (as gene pitney sang) is done with truth...and that is something to live and die for.

a stirring write.

that's what's nice about poetry. you can dream it, write it, and say "wouldn't it be nice if....." .. read more
This is something we all want, Rubie... contentment and a fresh start (knowing all that we know) without the baggage we have packed along the way and to share that contentment with the one who will fulfil our needs and deepest desires... well-penned!
