A Fundamental Question

A Fundamental Question

A Poem by rubie

the afternoon’s turned cool and gray

with cloud shadows and spring breezes

oozing over the mountains

like
sweet honey from an over-filled jar

and
I’m wondering

why we aren’t
curled up with each other

on a sofa

legs entwined and heads together

like
 children whispering outlandish secrets

giggling the remaining day into night

I want to reach out and touch you

breathe in the scent of your hair

feel the rhythm of your heartbeat

as my lips rest against your temple

these aching moments of missing you

eat away at body, mind and spirit

give rise to the fundamental question:

can you come over to play tonight?

You have created a wonderful scene here, Rubie, with your playfully youthful words and fundamental question... 'outlandish' has always been one of my favorite words and I always tingle a little when I see it on paper... another great write.

Oh to have romance the way we had it way back when. When giggling and laughing gave way to hugs and light as a feather kisses. There is strong romantic longing and reflection in this poem. If only.....does life have a rewind button? :) Lydi**

a "fundamentally" sound poem that speaks of those carefree days of love and how we might get them back.

those not so innocent feelings that we became aware of...

let's play.
