All Sales Final

All Sales Final

A Poem by rubie

All Sales Final

skin on skin

lies on lies

you once loved me

or did you?

was I just a pillow

for your greedy head?

I was too wrapped up in the illusion

to see that inside the gift

another box waited to be opened

go peddle your wares somewhere else

shower another with your deceit

I no longer accept returns

without a receipt

apparently, you have never heard of the walmart return policy....they'll refund you for anything, even if you didn't buy it there! all kidding aside though, i felt this one deeply, having been down that gloomy path to selfish and unreturned love. nicely penned.

understood. i will try not to be so absent minded in the future.....
I like how you were straightforward and honest about the policy and how you compared that to love where all sales are final...Brilliant idea too...:)

So true...You are welcome...:)
greedy head - nice - glad you finally recognized - love is not a starter pistol... have no idea what that means - but there it is...

Thanks for the review. Appreciate the read!
yes, you do grab on to a metaphor, and don't let it go...the box inside the box...there is always something hidden...lovers do that...and when we open that last box...it is often times NO gift@!

So true, jacob.

Thanks for your review!
I like this piece, full of assertiveness. We do get wrapped up in the illusion of someone's affection. You carried the metaphor really well throughout - nicely penned!
