if you love me

if you love me

A Poem by Ryan Riley

Lock your secrets in my heart
Leave with your purity and leave me with my pain
These memories surround me like a cell
Love was just a game for two
So innocent and so free

If you love me stay away
Walk away before it's to late
My heart is to dead to care
You couldn't love what isn't there

I still reach for you at night
Remember how you whispered in the dark
I couldn't see a life without your smile
All of that went to hell when you gave
up the fight

Take this hate and take your shame
This is my fate and your all the same
I wish I couldn't care
It would be easier in the end
The lies of angels are hidden well
Behind their eyes are where they dwell

If you love me stay away
Walk away before it's to late
My heart is to dead to care
You couldn't love what isn't there

This poem hits home for me. You can love what is not there...how simple, how true yet for some so hard to grasp...when you have been burned so many times it is so hard to love and when you finally do it is filled with worry at what terrible things could come of it, it is almost to painful and not worth it. When you do not love freely for fear of being hurt you just want to be left alone and for someone to pull it out of you just to throw it away is so fucked up and I hate it...but I love your poem because it expresses all of these feeling for me. Great write!
