The Cold

The Cold

A Poem by Rick Puetter
"

The bite of winter

"

The Cold
          The bite of winter

Tingle in cold hands
     Biting sweep of Winter wind
          Ice until the Spring

An excellent Haiku Rick. I really think it marvellous how much imagery can be packed into a little piece of brevity. The harshness of a bitterly cold winter was felt. The posted photograph of the tree after an ice storm is beautiful. I prefer though to read the words first and form my own pictures. I tend to look at posted artwork after reading the poetry. Thank you for the link to this gem.

Omg! I love haikus! And this one's really good. There's a true sense of feeling in each line. Love it! ;p

Good haiku, you can really feel the crisp air of winter in these short words. It's very descriptive, well done. I especially love that you used the tingling that everyone feels in their hands when it gets so cold. Great to relate to and makes the poem all the more real. Bravo.

Very good Haiku! Made me feel cold (curses.... I've been trying to stay warm all day). Amazing how much you can convey to people in only 17 syllables.

Ha-Ho!
I love the winter time. Makes me know I am alive. This morning I went outside and my nose slammed shut! The snow was crunchie and the tree's were popping!

Thanks for submitting this to the Haiku contest. It's a great poem! I like the format a lot! And it's very true! Ice until the spring, lol
