Condolence for a friend

Condolence for a friend

A Poem by Rick Puetter
"

The human spirit is resilient, with a huge capacity to heal if we allow contentment a path home

"

Cut by fickle love,
     undefeated, just delayed,
          contentment finds home.

Dear Rick,

One may succumb to a fickle thought, fleeting moment of desire, search for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but when we accept that all is part of the human spirit, and natural, we may indeed put it to rest and offer condolence to such a friend, and then allow the mind, the heart to return to the familiar as we allow such contentment garnered from such a stroll to dwell in the sanctuary of home.
Yes, undefeated!

Nicely penned, but then I would expect no less from you!

Best Regards,

Sheila

Contentment can never truly be gone. I love what this is saying about contentment and how it will always return with a bit of time and searching.

Nice and to the point. Reminds me a bit of Hemingway's earlier works. I noticed in your bio of being an astrophysicist. I am a computer scientist of sorts. I think that it amazes some people that scientists actually can write with emotion.

Keep up the great works.

Nicely done is so few words. I can't say why really but within the short read I kept expecting to see the word "heal" maybe because the piece starts with the word "Cut"? Just a thought.

Ah, what a nice consolation! You're very, very good at saying volumes with only few words. I read it several times and I got a slightly different message every time. I'm starting to think, though, that it might be slightly clearer from the first time through if you changed "undefeated" to "not defeated" since it fits more with the structure of the sentence that you're creating. Just a thought :-) Great job as always!

Spare but not dry, consolation without pity. That takes a fine hand. Nice work!

I do love Haiku poetry. There's a beauty in its simplicity, and a difficulty in writing so much so succinctly. I enjoyed reading this.

So what's the most important thing to say about myself? I guess the overarching aspect of my personality is that I am a scientist, an astrophysicist to be precise. Not that I am touting science.. more..
