A Thanksgiving Payer

"…How fortunate we are this year…let us give thanks!…"

Oh, think, my love, how we are blessed

On this fair day of joy

A year ago we faced such pain

Both hope and peace destroyed

But we survived the troubled time--

I do not know just how

Our tears now dried and wiped away

Care lifted from our brows

Oh think what calm--oh think what treat

We celebrate today

Such mirth and festive merriment

This day holds in its sway

Now tears of joy fill full my eyes

Yet still I feel those pains

Near losing you I must confess

I near gave grief all rein

But with time passed I can let go--

This burden off my chest

I now, at last, these terrors shake--

These horrors now divest

I now can sigh, and shake that fear

That you would go away

What I would do in such event?

I truly cannot say

But let us smile that time is passed--

Be happy and be gay

Health truly is a treasure, Dear

A gift Thanksgiving Day

This a stunning tribute Rick...... from troubled times to to the conclusion of the calm after the storm. Very endearing and heartfelt...written deep from within a loving heart. Such unconditional love is so warming and precious.

I loved this po3m and its going into my 'favourites'!

Thank you for sharing a little of your life memories with us all.

Kindest Regards,

Helena :)

A love call to gratitude and to always remember how precious and fragile love and those we love can be.

How can so many people view these beautiful and sincere words and not leave something in return!

Rick, this prayer-poem talks of your feelings for life with Rosalinda - dear and beautiful lady that she is - but also shows you to be a very real human being who knows what the word 'precious' really means. You and your lady are what love and marriage can be through tears of both bright day and dark night. A huge thank you for sharing such wonderful words.

That picture speaks a billion words.

Excellent pen and ink. Of course this one is like my own style and I would of course love this. The sentiment the emotion gathering of the clan. We think at times about the beautiful people who mean so much to us and what life would be without them Then say a silent prayer for them as I am doing for you .Welcome to the land of the living.
Sincerely
Tate

Not sure that I would call this a prayer, but it does come across with fear and reverence. Obviously, you had a close call and therefore have something special to celebrate. I'm sure almost any reader could identify with this scenario in one way or another; thus, a very accessible poem.
